EXPERIENCE:
2008 – present: Freelance consultant, Global Geologic B.V., Rotterdam, The Netherlands Engineering Geologist, consultant, providing advice and support for civil engineering and mining projects.

Projects comprising of senior client representation on board offshore site investigations and project management for offshore site investigations for renewable energy.

2006 – 2007: Senior Engineering Geologist, Advanced Geomechanics, Perth, Australia

Client representation during offshore site investigations, engineering geological reporting, laboratory test selection and management.

1999 - 2006:  Geotechnical Engineer, Fugro Engineers B.V., Leidschendam, The Netherlands.

Site Manager and Project Engineer for soil investigations around the world. Responsibilities included day-to-day management and safety of marine and geotechnical crew as well as on-board reporting to client representatives. Advising client on investigation approach during fieldwork investigations. Offshore investigations were typically from specialised drilling vessels, survey vessels, semi-submersibles and small jack-up rigs. Qualified for jack-up rig footing investigations on board Mobile Offshore Drilling Units (MODUs), performing detailed analyses of spudcan penetration.

Responsibilities include monitoring and implementation of HSE procedures according to Fugro regulations and local laws and requirements. Experience with set-up and execution of Medevac procedures.

Experience with wide range of sampling and in-situ test techniques, such as push sampling, piston sampling, hammer sampling, gravity coring, piston coring, box coring, vibrocoring, Stacoring, Large Gravity Piston Coring, Rapid Piston Sampling, water sampling, piezo-cone testing, T-bar testing, bal-cone testing, thermal-cone testing, seismic cone testing (S and P wave) and in-situ vane testing.

Performed factual and interpretative reporting, including engineering analyses on the following subjects:
     • axial pile capacity (according to various methods) and drivability for offshore piles
     • axial and lateral pile load-deformation analyses
     • spudcan penetration for independent leg jack-up rigs
     • Suction Pile Anchor capacity and installation analyses
     • Vertically Loaded Anchor capacity and installation
     • seismic hazard assessment.

Experience in integrated studies in which geotechnical, geological and geophysical data are compared and correlated, producing three-dimensional models of subsurface conditions.

Experience in the development and management of a virtual office project, making it possible for several Fugro offices to work on the same project simultaneously.

Assisted Project Managers in contract preparations and joined project meetings with clients. Experienced in making budget estimates for fieldwork and in-office projects.

1998 – 1999: Thesis project, Delft University of Technology, The Netherlands.

The design of an ore-pass in a quartzite quarry in Germany. The design considered no artificial support of the walls and incorporated an estimate of the expected speed of the material being transported through the ore-pass.
